About Dr. Ramakant Deshpande

Dr. Ramakant Deshpande is a Surgical Oncologist with over 30 years of experience. His expertise lies in the management of Esophageal, Lung, Chest wall, Mediastinal, Pediatric tumor, and Thoracoscopy / Robotic Surgery. He was the first person to introduce Thoracoscopic Surgery at the Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai. After completing his MBBS from Karnataka Medical College, he completed his MS from Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, and earned higher qualifications such as FICS, DHA, and FAIS. Dr. Deshpande received many awards and recognitions for his contributions to the medical field. He was honored with Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian award of the Government of India, in 2014. He received the Game Changers Award by The HR Club on 7 February 2015. He also has several publications in various national and international journals. He is credited with more than 50 publications, both books and articles published in international journals. He has written chapters in various books and the Textbook of Cancer, published by the National Book Trust.
