Dr. Shawn T Joseph is a renowned Head and Neck Surgical Oncologist, with experience of more than 13 years. He is skilled in performing Microvascular Reconstruction Surgeries, Transoral laser surgeries for Larynx Cancers and Endoscopic skull base surgeries. Under his leadership and guidance, the Head and Neck Surgical Oncology Department of VPS Lakeshore Hospital started its operation in July 2014, and since then it is evolving as one of the states of the art centers of Head and Neck Surgical Oncology in the country. In VPS Lakeshore Hospital, he has formed Head and Neck Cancer Disease Management Group in collaboration with departments of Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Nuclear Medicine, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Neurosurgery, Pathology, Radiology, Endocrinology, and Rehabilitation Sciences. The doctor tries to propagate the idea “No facial scar surgery for oral cancer” which aims to avoid facial incisions whenever possible for patients with oral cancer. He has also introduced “TAMMIL”, a new surgical procedure for preserving voice in selected larynx cancers, where complete removal of a voice box was the only option available. He pioneered “Kocher’s Club”, an academic club meant for promoting discussion and innovation in Head and Neck Sciences. He is the recipient of numerous awards. He has participated in National and International conferences and presented papers in them. The doctor is a member of several prestigious associations that include: Indian Medical Association, Foundation for Head and Neck Oncology, Skull Base Society of India and Indian Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery. He takes interest in research and has multiple publications to his credit in reputed National and International journals.
