About Dr Ajit Pai

With over 17 years of experience, Dr Ajit Pai is a well known Surgical Oncologist and Robotic Surgeon at the Apollo Hospitals in Chennai. His major areas of expertise are sphincter-preservation for low rectal cancer and radical oesophageal cancer surgical treatment by robotic approaches. He has a rich experience in the surgical management of advanced ovarian, gastric and colorectal cancers, including the use of cytoreductive surgery, heated intraoperative chemotherapy (HIPEC), and Pressurised Intraperitoneal Aerosol Chemotherapy (PIPAC). He has earned his Fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic and Robotic Surgery, Gastrointestinal, Colon and Rectal Surgery from the University of Illinois, Chicago; USA. He is also a General Surgeon certified by the Medical Council of India and NBE. He is a member of the Association of Surgeons of India, International Hepato Pacreatico Billary Association 1HPBA, the Royal College of Surgeon of Edinburgh, UK. He has published a plethora of his works in peer-reviewed international journals, presented at international conferences, and has authored several book chapters. Besides English and Hindi, Dr Pai speaks 4 other Indian languages.
